First, this was a well written book. I really liked the authors writing style. Which makes the total lack of research so disappointing. The following are the main points that consistently pulled me out of the story:1. The Texas Rangers and the Army Rangers are two separate organizations. The first is a police force, while the second is military.2. The Texas Rangers require 8 years of LEO experience before even being able to apply.3. Penn's training is much more in line with Army Rangers, however, he isn't old enough for either organizations.4. Penn's background simply doesn't add up.5. Cora's father just died and her response is to fall in bed with Penn?6. Even if you ignore the fact that women are not allowed in Special Forces, there is no way she would be put under the command of someone she was having a relationship with.Yes, I know its just a book. However, these type of inconsistencies drive me crazy. Hitting Extremes is the first book in the Extreme Ops series. Penn Sullivan was kicked off of the Texas Rangers about 5 years ago and has been working as a solo operative without a team ever since. When Homeland Security approached him to lead a brand new team in the most extreme environment, Alaska, he couldn't resist taking on the assignment. His people and team leading skills were rusty, but he would figure it out as he went along. Within minutes of meeting his team for the first time, they are called out to deal with a situation involving a hi-jacked bush plane and a well known Russian crime figure. Team bonding would have to be done on the fly.At the site of the plane crash, Extreme Ops meets Cora Hutton- a beautiful, no nonsense bush pilot who, along with her father, was involved in the crash. I have been reading author Em Petrova's books for about 5 years now. I have read every single one and I have enjoyed so many of them. This one though was love at first chapter! She masters at using vivid imagery to draw the reader in, creating a world that is simple to conjure in the mind and where one finds themself longing to go, too. I love that her new Special Ops series is based in Alaska. A wild and rugged frontier to match the the rugged character leads and their love interests. Fabulous character development, engrossing plot, intensely sizzling chemistry.... this is a book that absolutely MUST be read!I am already looking forward to reading every one of the book in this series. I hope that the author chooses to write at least a 6 book series to rival the Knight Ops Series. This author has squarely found her place in the Romantic Suspense genre, I hope that her readers enjoy this book as much as I did!
